100 Days of Travel Sketchbooks Project
Day 3 – The India Itinerary & the Reluctant Traveller
January 6th 2025 was a freezing day in Scotland, but it was bright with no wind, so a great day for flying. The short flight to London Heathrow was at a very civilised time so no crazy bleary eyed early starts for us. I enjoyed having pre-flight time at home to make sure we had everything on the list for the trip… And it was a long list!
The bags were finally packed and mine weighed in at 12.6kg, so I had potentially 2.4kg of shopping allowance without throwing anything away! (one of our internal flights had a luggage restriction of 15kg). I had chosen a wheelie case instead of a rucksack this time, so hopefully my back wouldn’t suffer as much when carrying the bags. We were unsure how it would be to transport when in India, but it was worth a try.
The first page of my travel books always have details of the journey, but this time I had also written some sad feeling that I had at the time –
As the date for leaving approached, the anxiety heightened to untold levels. I hadn’t packed anything, dragging my heels, because of one reason – I didn’t want to go. Why?
After all, it’s a country bursting full of colour and life!
But I felt tired of travelling and weary of seeing new things. My head felt so full of everything that I found it hard to look forward to another journey.
But this was Trevor’s trip (I got Mexico for the Day of the Dead) and he needed to go back, to finish his photo projects and to satisfy his thirst for the madness!
But I came back with a very full sketchbook and over 3000 photos to remind me of why I also really needed to go to India in wintertime.
Next stop – the airport!
