DAY 4 – The Glamour of Glasgow Airport

They say that ‘it’s not the destination, it’s the journey’. Whoever said it first was definitely not a tall person flying economy class from Glasgow Airport, to London, then to Delhi.

There is something dehumanising about air travel. Perhaps it’s the endless queuing, or the airless cafes, or the feeling that you can’t escape after having just invested a good portion of your day removing a fair bit of your clothing and belongings to be scanned, pointed at, swabbed for explosives and drugs only to then put them on again (temporarily), before exiting through the gift shop.

We were delighted to find that PRET had opened a franchise beyond security in amongst the bars serving alcohol well before the yard-arm, so we settled down to sip a strong coffee and an energising fruit smoothie (to help give us some welly), while watching the other travellers scoff greasy burgers and chips in the Burger King next door. #nicebuns

The weather outside was freezing cold, but the views over the runway were glorious. Blue, cloudless skies are rare in Glasgow and are a real treat for smooth air travel. I marvelled out the window at the beauty of the snowy hills we were swapping for more warm and dusty lands. Or so we had planned.
