100 Days of Travel Sketchbooks Project

DAY 8 – Boring Myself to Death

Yesterday was not an inspired writing day. Nor was today.

It happens in all forms of creative endeavour, and particularly when trying to do a project that makes you show up everyday whether you feel like it or not. Perhaps it was the grey rainy weather here in Scotland, dulling my spirits or the writing about air travel which is basically, let’s face it, pretty boring!

I realised in my last post that in trying to share a chronological story through only my sketchbook that I lost my spark of inspiration. The pages at the beginning of the trip are seldom that interesting, because it usually involves travel, and waiting, and sitting about, which often doesn’t make interesting writing (apart from the artist David Shrigley who wrote a whole book of ridiculous poetry while trapped in an airport overnight).

Like the dogs in Delhi, I wanted to lie down in the sunshine and sleep, but instead I’ve decided to shake things up. Not every day in my three week adventure was a sketchbook or drawing day, so not every day here will be a sketchbook post. Some days were not so good and there is a lot of moaning, that nobody needs to read about. So I have decided to share my sketchbooks from all three visits to India and mix it up with some of the 3000+ photos I took (On each trip – eek!)

Be like the cat in the photo- keep watching and something exciting will surely happen 🙂
